Hi Hilda, thank you so much for your beautiful comment.  I would love to read your work anytime.  I'm writing as well, working on trying to publish a children's book.  I hope you're enjoying your weekend.  Lots of love, Jean :)

Here is "our" imagist manifesto: 1. To use the language of common speech, but to employ the exact word, not the nearly-exact, nor the merely decorative word. 2. We believe that the individuality of a poet may often be betterexpressed in free verse than in conventional forms. In poetry, a new cadence means a new idea. 3. Absolute freedom in the choice of subject. 4. To present an image. We are not a school of painters, but we believe that poetry should render particulars exactly and not deal in vague generalities, however magnificent and sonorous. It is for this reason that we oppose the cosmic poet, who seems to us to shirk the real difficulties of his art. 5. To produce a poetry that is hard and clear, never blurred nor indefinite. 6. Finally, most of us believe that concentration is of the very essence of poetry.

Blurbs

About me:

I am originally from Bethlehem, PA, but I have lived abroad and found love and poetry in Vienna and Zurich. I am fascinated by mysticism, Hellenic studies, Egyptology, and astrology. I will at some point be accused of outgrowing Imagism, but I am currently writing some of its most memorable poems. I am too busy writing poems to bother with theory and salons and all of that silliness. You can read more about me here: http://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/19222 a good article that explains my complex career and interests...I blush reading it. ;)

Who I'd like to meet:

disciples; poetic peers; the Olympians; lovers of seashells, wind-torn flowers, and purple.
