With alternative country being his main sound, he also mixes his folk influences to create his own unique style of music. Bob Dylan, Ryan Adams, and Coldplay are his main influences, but there are many others that have helped him to create the sound he plays which sets him apart from most music of today. Some people critiquing his music state his writing is abstract, but that in actuality is what his music is about- it makes you think. Even when sometimes he may be writing what he says is a 'simple song', you personally find depth and meaning. Ryan Matthews is a singer/songwriter from Nashville. With alternative country being his main sound, he also mixes his folk influences to create his own unique style of music.
