After meeting the Silver Jews frontman David Berman at a poetry showcase, Seattle city slickers Actual Tigers' moniker was official after receiving a postcard from him.
Singer/songwriter Tim Seely and bandmates John Low (keys) and Max Perry (bass) were inspired by his sensibility, and that meeting fixed what was to become a solid band. Each member was at the bridge of settling into adulthood and found no solace in such a thing. Simplistic songwriting exuded their internal passions and an album to follow. The deep-rooted Gravelled & Green, produced by Dennis Herring (Camper Van Beethoven, Throwing Muses, Concrete Blonde), was issued on Nettwerk in spring 2001. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
