  • Bio

.. Corey was born in Perth, Western Australia on the 21st January 1971 and was raised heavily on rock from a very early age. Surrounded by the sounds of Zeppelin and Deep Purple, it's no surprise that music turned out to be his pathway of destiny. .... School was not a big thing for Corey at all and he only cared about his love for music. KISS was where it all really began for Corey from a very early age. Corey's other passion was Speedway Racing; something that he was also raised with, and just like music: it was in his blood. .... By the time Corey hit high school and came across bands such as Motley Crue, W.A.S.P amongst many others, his head was set on his future and further away from school. As a result he left at the age of 14 to find his way through the big, bad world of Rock and Roll. .... After about 3 years of studying the Hard Rock / Heavy Metal scene in the Perth area, Corey finally built up the guts to audition for local bands. .... By the age of 19 Corey was playing in young cover/original bands at such venues as The Warwick Hotel, The Stadium, Sundowner and other big named venues of the time. .... In 1992, after finishing with covers outfit BLACKOUT, Corey had decided to go east and dig deeper into the underground scene of Sydney and spent a few months sniffing around. Even after a short stay, and some involvement with Sydney outfit KILSWITCH, that trip had turned Corey 180°. .... Refreshed from a learning curve Corey came home to form one of the most rocking outfits he has done to date: SILENT SCREAM. .... After 3 years of gigging covers and originals in Silent Scream, the band fell apart and left Corey and fellow drummer, Jason Thompson, to go off and form Fortissimo .... Fortissimo lasted another 3 years with long time friend and SkinInc. Bass player Geoff Lewis before Corey decided to put music on the back burner and kickstart his Speedway dream and worked on both sides of the fence. .... 2 and a half years later and still working with dirty racecars, Corey decided to record some stuff he had written in his time off and caught up with Stevie D to help out. As a result of this new and fresh creative process between the two, SkinInc. was formed. .... From 1999 to 2001, Skin Inc played the local Perth circuit to enthusiastic punters. The band recorded two CDs, which attracted some positive international reaction. .... The days of Skin Inc came and went as the band's lead vocalist, Paul Miles, moved to Melbourne. Determined to continue with his love of music, Corey Hodgetts began working towards a lifelong dream: recording his own CD. .... The dream came to pass in the form of Contagious, an EP with Geoff Lewis that showcased Corey's songwriting talents. The music caught the attention of local Perth guitarist Craig Anderson. The two joined forces to form Crash in 2002. .... Crash was rounded out by Baz Taylor and Michael Davis. At the beginning of 2003, the band was joined by drummer Julian Anderson - and changed their name to CrashPit. The band's fresh sound was delivering a new breed of rock to the fans of Perth music, and CrashPit enjoyed both local and some international achievements into 2003. .... Following the breakup of CrashPit of 2003, Corey moved on towards new goals and new projects. Corey dived into a new project entitled YOUTH MUSIC ZONE, a community project that involved teaching kids in the Perth area about the music industry, and providing them with the opportunities to develop their own music, put on performances and record CDs. .... His passion in YOUTH MUSIC ZONE paralleled that of his passion for his own music, as Corey developed his second solo album, Contagious II. .... Compiled with past recordings, new songs, recently reworked and previously unreleased material, the sequel to Contagious was a focus on where Corey had been musically prior to 2004 and a focus on where he was heading towards in the future. The album was released on November 23, 2004. .... While Corey worked extremely hard on the development of Contagious II, he continues to work on a third solo CD, in which he is playing all instruments. Entitled West of October, the album is evolving into a hard groove sound, and is set to hit the streets in 2007. .... The E.P Supermodified is out May 2007 featuring the song American Nightmare (Theme for Grave Tavern XSE Wrestler Gold Coast Australia) and a House remix of the same song that sounds INSANE !!!! The Speedway dream still lives on but for now Corey is focused on completing West of October, his third solo CD, and working in his new outfit to play into 2007 ....
