Dan Shout is a freelance soprano, alto and tenor saxophonist based in Cape Town, South Africa. Shout commenced his studies of Classical Clarinet and Jazz Saxophone at the South African College of Music at the University of Cape Town in 1999. Whilst he read his Bachelors of Music he performed with The Mike Campbell Big Band, The Cape Town Jazz Orchestra, the Standard Bank South African National Youth Bands (2002-2005), Mike McCullagh, The Spier Summer Orchestra, The Darryl Andrews Band and Cape Town Funk phenomenon, Golliwog.

He completed his Masters Degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance from the University of Cape Town in June 2006 graduating Cum Laude and has been touring with the Johnny Clegg Band since playing saxophone and keyboards.

Dan has toured abroad in Europe, Scandinavia, Australasia, North America, North Africa, the Emirates, Seychelles and the French West Indies. Some of his highlights have included performing for the 2006 Soccer World Cup in Germany, the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France, Nelson Mandela's 46664 Concert at Ellis Park and for Bastille Day in Bastille, Paris 2007.

Dan has established himself as one of the stalwarts of the South African House Music scene having played at almost every major House club in Cape Town and Johannesburg such as Bang Bang Club, Fez, Hemisphere, Ignite, Delux, 88 Lounge and Carfax to name a few. Shout's favourite DJ's to play with are Shaun Duvet, Gren Forte, DJ Fresh, Danny Cash, Dave Impact, Leighton Moody, Dean Fuel and Charl Chaka. Shout has also performed several times at Dubai's hottest House clubs including Trinity at the Madinat Jumeirah Resort.

Dan continues to tour with the Johnny Clegg Band and performs Jazz and House Music whilst at home in Cape Town. The latest from Shout's musical kitchen is The Onion Project. Shout performs soprano, alto, tenor, baritone saxophones, clarinet, guitar, keyboard synth, didge, African and Middle-Eastern percussion with a Boss Loop Station.
