Djevara is a heavy alternative rock band based in London (UK). Current live line-up features Bass (vox/guitars/FX), Geoff Courts (bass guitar/guitar) and Malcolm Gayner (drums). "Furious, energetic, schizophrenic and passionate - just some of the words regularly used to describe Djevara's blend of hardcore punk rock and alternative metal, as they continue a musical journey slicing through the European underground - a journey which takes them into ever more progressive territory, with dense antagonistic melodies vying with pure, unfettered anger for attention. Raw emotional music, but not for the faint of heart." There's much more to the Djevara project than just the music; inspired by pro-active artists like Fugazi and Asian Dub Foundation, the band are outspoken politically on issues of freedom, human rights and poverty and actively campaign for a number of causes and issues, put on events and generally try to help the scene through a number of means. Djevara started the indie label Genin Records / Djevara Music in 2003, and Bass and Geoff are both founding members of the art/music collective The Low Fidelity Disconnect which is currently based in a warehouse in North London. Malcolm Gayner is a producer and engineer, and the genius behind Orange & Blue Music (most famous for Malcfest, officially the best festival series ever).
