Dr. Stay Dry boasts one of the more unusual .. careers to grace the music scene. .. It actuallystarted at university – and not .. just any old uni, but elite American school .. Harvard. The undisputed star of his class, .. his fellow students soon started calling .. him “Doctor”, or “Doc” when time was tight. .... And time is a precious commodity to .. Dr. Stay Dry. He didn’t last long at .. university, it was just too boring. “And my .. lifestyle didn’t exactly fit with life on .. campus.” .. .. His decision to quit studying was .. “a huge loss to our school,” according to .. his professor. Dr. Stay Dry now devoted his .. life to art. His work shows a distinct and .. characteristic predilection for the colour .. green. “I picked up my fondness for the .. colour green after visiting a casino in .. Vegas,” he relates. “I was down to my very .. last $100,000 and I bet the lot on zero - and .. whaddya know, it came up zero. Green .. means good luck. Everyone should take that .. on board.” Besides, he had no need to work .. for a living, as he had inherited plenty of .. money from his parents. .... .. Dr. Stay Dry strutted his stuff at any number of jet set parties and events, but soon tired of the endemic narrow-mindedness and lack of originality in American high society. In any case, his somewhat dandyish appearance and unique attitude to life made him an odd man out. At a party in New York’s Bowery, he later met music impresario Jonathan Finegold, who in turn introduced Dr Stay Dry to the grandees of the American funk and hip hop scene. The Doctor felt totally at home: this was his lifestyle. Dr. Stay Dry had arrived. His first studio session resulted in Don’t Sweat That. .... Some time back, I was clubbing and got to know Jonathan Finegold, you know him, the famous A&R man, the Clive Davis of R&B if you will. Nice guy. And before I knew what was happening, he sent me to this recording studio: big mixing desk, amazing outboard equipment and all that stuff... .. .. .. ? And you started recording there and then? .. .. .. ..! No way. Jonathan is a total pro. He knew he had to provide some entertainment. Relaxed atmosphere is everything when it comes to bouncing grooves, man! So we called Lumidee and asked if she’d drop by. I just thought having a lady in the studio would make it a whole lot more pleasurable... .. .. .. ? And what’s next? What’s the plan for the future? .. .. .. ..! Right now I need another cup of coffee. Then let’s see... .. .. ..
