Gonzo Republic is a Rock n Roll-Funk-Indie outfit hailing from Durban, South Africa. Gonzo was formed in early 2007 by founding members Joshua Beechey and Clayton Human. The tail of Gonzo started over beer, a dingy bar and the need for a music experience that could inspire a disco-dance-move anywhere - be it in a skanky club or at a festival stadium - the idea was unconditional and resolute, MAKE PARTY. Over the past two years Gonzo has built up a sexy and definitive resume, fit for any Independently driven band existing in the South African Music Industry. Gonzo s debut Album "Im Ok - Youre Ok" has received expected success, having been playlisted on all Major/Varsity Radio Stations with the first single "Nothing to Fight About" reaching 1 on the High Five at Five on 5FM. Gonzo has blown up stages nationally on the club scene gigging with the likes of Kidofdoom, Desmond and The Tutus, City Bowl Mizers, Superhotjoy, Bed on Bricks, 340ml and The Shadowclub to name a few..... Having headlined Splashy Fen, Levis Young Guns, Levis Vintage and made it to the final of The Road to Vfest, sharing the stage with Maroon 5, Gonzo's big stage temperament is evident. Although Gonzo has built up a reputation for intensely explosive live performances on stage, the band has similltaniosly managed to navigate their way through the often unpredictable business of Music with a professional yet slighlty off putting rock n roll ethos.
