HANDA GOTE is a project concerned with the research and development of movement theatre, design theatre, music and sound design and the integration of science and technology in art.

The group was founded in early 2005, as a new platform for the projects created since 2000 by cooperation of Tomas Prochazka (musician and sound designer) and Veronika Svabova(choreographer and dancer). They then invited Robert Smolik (set designer and creative artist) and Jakub Hybler (specialist in Video, computer and other technology and light designer) and this signalled the coming into existence of the theatre group Handa Gote.

The term "Handa Gote" is Japanese for "soldering gun". The company chose this title because it likes to work with the recycling and finding of materials, using old, used and broken objects, in a very "Czech" way of creating. The group members are also all great admirers of Japanese cukture for its nobility and its sensitivity to harmony. The resulting style is a mix of Czech solder-gun punk and yearning for the Japanese refinement and subtlety. The theatre group attempt to create something like synthetic theatre, using elements of physical theatre, visual art, live music and sound art and working a lot with technology. They like low-tech but find it interesting to combine it with high-tech. The music group B4 has become a part of the Handa Gote project. They work together on the music and generally appear on stage together during performances. Each member of the theatre group is a technician, musician, actor and performer all at once. Everyone does everything.

HANDA GOTE research and development je konceptuální postdramatické divadlo, mísící ve svém instrumentáři zvukové instalace, pohybové a taneční divadlo, živou hudbu, výtvarné divadlo a technologie. Jejich tvorba je ovlivněna minimalismem, východní filosofií i hnutím DO IT YOURSELF. Mísí v sobě české kutilství, recyklaci objektů i technologií i inspiraci japonskými estetickými kategoriemi SABI a MONO NO AWARE. Trademarkem jejich práce je alternativní práce se samotným prostorem, kde pomocí různých předmětů běžného užití a samotné divadelní techniky vytváří svébytnou verzi scenografie.

Inspirace tvůrců se často nalézá za hranicemi divadla a vede až do světa vědy a techniky. Dokumentární aspekt představení bývá často východiskem pro kontemplativní jevištní obrazy.

Skupina vznikla v roce 2005. Handa Gote je japonský výraz pro pájku.
