Producer, Singer-Songwriter and Harmonica Wizard John Carey, is enjoying a musical path that has become a fulfilling cultural journey over three different Continents.
In the New Orleans scene, the JOHN CAREY BLUES SUMMIT was weekly jam session at Vic's on Tuesdays. John then took the Summit to the Kentucky Theater of the Arts where He performed with Grammy winner Chris Thomas King and Henry Butler to a SOLD OUT audience. On Wednesday night, the JOHN CAREY BLUES PARTY took place at the HARD ROCK CAFÉ and featured some of the top names in Blues today. John also produced and performed in many Blues Revues at the HOUSE OF BLUES in the Crescent City. He was presented an award for all his contributions to the New Orleans Music Scene by Ellis Marsalis (Father of Winton) and theLouisiana Music Commission. BLUES REVUE MAGAZINE said, "Like Dr. John, Carey splits his musical time between classic Crescent City boogie and contemporary funk-blues, often combining the two with good results!” On his latest release, BACK IN NEW ORLEANS, John is joined by Piano Bob Wilder and a cast of New Orleans best Musicians that include his son Sean Carey, Johnny Sansone, John Foul, Eric Lindell, Jimmy Carpenter, Marc Stone and Willie Panker. Although John's time spent in New Orleans has proven to be prosperous, Taos New Mexico was another place where his heart and soul resonated. His Taos projects have included the live recording on Big Headed Kid Records ‘John Carey and the Bluebird Rodeo Live @ the OBL. John’s second NM CD release was a Blues Duo CD called ‘ Crossroads’ with Taos Blues Guitar legend Cullen Winter.
