  • Bio

.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..Jonathan Dorsey has been a songwriter and musician for more than 20 years, starting in the mid-1980s as bassist, singer and songwriter for West Georgia college rockers "Afterlife" with Mike Hudson and Warren Davis, Jr. Afterlife was one of only 100 bands from across the Southeast chosen to participate in the first New South Music Showcase in Atlanta and received repeated airplay of their original songs on WKLS-FM. After Afterlife (say that three times fast) Jonathan co-founded the rock power trio "Sea of Green" with Jerry Brand and Gary Leftwich. Sea of Green was featured on two compilation CDs of Carrollton area musicians and received airplay on stations across the Southeast. He joined Willi Bar, Skip Pollard, Victor Edmonds, Richard Holloman and Reed Tanner in the legendary West Georgia party band "Backstreet" in the mid-1990s and still plays bass with them today. In 2001, Jonathan again teamed up with Brand, Leftwich and longtime friend Jane Baxter to form "Bluesmobile," a hot roots-music band that the members described as "bluesoulfunkabilly" and in which Jonathan shared guitar duties with Brand. Along the way, Jonathan has teamed up time and time again with his friend Rick Fowler, their collaborations producing, among other works, the Tourette Syndrome benefit CD "Welcome Companions," Jonathan's solo debut CD "Desperatown" and contributions to tracks by vocalist Sherry Joyce, Rick and Grand Rapids rocker Leonard Misner. This friendly collaboration with Rick, Leonard and Sherry produced "Northern Exposure," an as-yet unreleased second Tourette benefit CD. Jonathan is proud to have shared the stage, studio or bill with many of his own musical influences and regional and national names such as Sun Records legend Roland Janes, REM drummer Bill Berry, Widespread Panic bassist Dave Schools, Drivin'n'Cryin's Kevn Kinney, soulman extraordinaire Percy Sledge, southern partiers the Swingin' Medallions, fellow Georgia rockers The Producers and the Swimming Pool Cues and bad-ass bluesman Tinsley Ellis, to name a few. Although he plays bass and guitar (and a little harmonica), Jonathan sees himself as primarily a songwriter. He continues to write, record and perform.

Others are home demos produced by Jonathan and some are blasts from past bands.
