Bio
Local 99 was a concept that started back in the 90's. The purpose was to help up and coming bands from North Carolina get their message out to the masses .... Through several lapses and roster changes, Local 99 has remained the standard for local music in Eastern NC. Now manned Blando, Local 99 is coming back with a vengance. .... Blando: One thing I always look at first in a band is how they perform live. Given enough time and money, anyone can make a half decent recording. But when a group can hit the stage and not only captivate a crowd but sound good doing it... now that's a force to be reckoned with. .... Having grown up in the area, I take pride in my roots and want to see ENC become the next Seattle or Boston. There is a great pool of raw talent around here just waiting for the right ears to hear it... and that's why Local 99 is here. .... In the end, it's all about having fun and rocking out... two things we know all too well!! .... If you're in a band and you'd like to hear your music on Local 99, just send it to the address below: .. .. Local 99 .. c/o Blando .. 207 Glenburnie Drive .. New Bern, NC 28560 .... Influences
Blando: Like I mentioned in the bio, I have a very wide range of musical taste. I was brought up on classic and southern rock (my first concert was Aerosmith with my mom and dad when I was 13). I grew into the thrash sound which branched out to all forms of rock. I even played trumpet in a jazz band in high school. Basically, if it has a message and a good sound to it... I'm up for it! .... The Drew: I've got everything in my music collection from Bluegrass to Metallica and a lot in between. I was raised on country music (thank goodness it didn't affect me too much) and oldies. I still love the oldies tunes, but my heart is in rock. Believe it or not, Blando and I were at the same Aerosmith concert, we just didn't know each other then! So if it's loud and laced with blistering guitar riffs, I probably dig it! -

Bio:
Local 99 was a concept that started back in the 90's. The purpose was to help up and coming bands from North Carolina get their message out to the massesThrough several lapses and roster changes, Local 99 has remained the standard for local music in Eastern NC. Now manned by dynamic duo of Blando and The Drew, Local 99 is coming back with a vengance.
Blando: One thing I always look at first in a band is how they perform live. Given enough time and money, anyone can make a half decent recording. But when a group can hit the stage and not only captivate a crowd but sound good doing it... now that's a force to be reckoned with.
The Drew: I'm with Blando here. A band that can get the crowd pumped up and really into their show is something great. But I also love music that speaks to me. If I can take a song from a group, and relate it to my life, it makes it so much better. Music is almost like a time machine. Hearing a familiar song, or something with a familiar emotion takes me back to different times in my life, and I love that.
We both have a range of musical taste that goes from death metal to blues and back again (well, Blando can't stand country). But we both know that LIKING something and it being GOOD are totally different things. Having grown up in the area, we take pride in our roots and want to see ENC become the next Seattle or Boston. There is a great pool of raw talent around here just waiting for the right ears to hear it... and that's why we're here.
In the end, it's all about having fun and rocking out... two things we know all too well!!
