CONTACT US @ THE ONE MANAGEMENT: - General Manager/Booking Agent: Eko Yudiyantho (+62 817 - 0069666) - Promotional Manager/Press Contact: Dali P. Saoedi (+62 813 - 1317469321) MUSIC.AND.LIVE.INSTRUMENT.QUALITY (MALIQ) & D’ESSENTIALS was conceived on May 15th 2002 with 8 personnel’s (Angga & Widi – producer, music director, vocals & drums (respectively); Indah & Dimi – vocals; Ifa – keys; Javafinger a.k.a Jawa – bass; Satrio – guitars; and Amar – horns) under a genre they call soulful music. The group started out performing soul and soul-inspired music (from artists such as Maxwell, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Barry White, Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind & Fire, etc.) at different lounges and/or cafes. In 2004, MALIQ & D’ESSENTIALS released their premiere album, 1st MALIQ & D’ESSENTIALS with singles such as “Terdiam”, “Untitled”, “Sampai Kapan” & “Kangen”. A special edition repackaged version was released a year after with “The One” chosen as a single. Around this time as well, Dimi, one of the female leads, decided to pursue a solo career and left the group in its septuplet formation. Early 2007, MALIQ & D’ESSENTIALS released their sophomore record, Free Your Mind with hit singles “Heaven” & “Beri Cinta Waktu”. The 2nd album was also repackaged in 2008 with hit singles “Dia” & “Kau Yang Bisa”, which also became soundtracks for a major motion picture, Claudia/Jasmine. Around 2008, Satrio, the group’s guitarist also decided to leave the group and was quickly replaced by Lale. By 2009, the group released their newest record: Mata Hati Telinga. With his trash metal background, Lale had interestingly added another color to the group’s unique sound. “Pilihanku” was chosen as the 1st single from the third album; the pop-rock up-tempo number was somewhat different than what the public would know of MALIQ & D’ESSENTIALS; although the group’s color never faded away from the newly explored influences. Along with 2nd single “Coba Katakan”, MALIQ & D’ESSENTIALS was able to broaden the horizon of their listeners. The release of Mata Hati Telinga also saw the introduction of The One Management and Organic Records; created to accommodate the group with a comprehensive, secure & prestigious management; and a record label that would give them as much freedom to explore their music. In addition, through the label MALIQ & D’ESSENTIALS also assumed the role of executive producers for great new talents such as Twentyfirst Night, Boogiemen, Soulvibe, and soon to be released new female solo artist, Renita. Early 2009, MALIQ & D’ESSENTIALS’ performance at Java Jazz 2010 featured The Organic All-Stars which included Twentyfirst Night, Boogiemen & Renita. It was recorded live and became an addition to the group’s discography as a DVD distributed by early 2010. Over the years, the group have developed a following of loyal fans, eventually named “D’Essentials”. A premiere (and not to mention quite successful) collaboration between The One Management/Organic Records and D’Essentials happened at MALIQ & D’ESSENTIALS “7th Year Celebration” to celebrate the group’s 7th Anniversary; as well as a form of appreciation to all D’Essentials who had been supporting them. After going through so many struggles, changes, trials & tribulations, as well as of course many successes, praises and appreciations, it is certain that MALIQ & D’ESSENTIALS had taken all their experiences into account and will be able to turn it all into a form of art no less expected of them. After 8 years, the group had significantly matured into an entity that is quite iconic in the Indonesian music industry. With that and so much more to come, their upcoming, much anticipated, fourth album will be aptly titled The Beginning of a Beautiful Life. The album is due to be released June of 2010. Many new projects under The One Management and their own Organic Records will soon follow; whether their own, or others artist and/or product under their supervision.
