  • Bio

The Monkees' tale is legendary. Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, Mike Nesmith and Peter Tork were plucked by fate from a mass casting call in 1965. Asked to portray a zany rock band in the spirit of the Beatles' A Hard Day's Night, the quartet went on to out-sell the Beatles and the Rolling Stones combined: more than 16 million albums between 1966 and 1968. Rhino celebrates the 40th anniversary of HEADQUARTERS and PISCES, AQUARIUS, CAPRICORN & JONES LTD. with a deluxe two-disc set that contains the stereo and mono mixes of the original albums along with rare and unreleased bonus tracks from the album's sessions.

HEAD
Deluxe Edition

The surreal odyssey of The Monkees' HEAD continues! Rhino Handmade expands the superbly strange soundtrack as an exclusive three-disc boxed set featuring 20 previously unreleased tracks, outtakes, rarities, and live performances; plus an entire disc containing a rare promo-only radio interview Davy recorded in 1968. Ahead of its time when released, HEAD has become a cult classic from the psychedelic era and the DELUXE EDITION contains many of the missing links of this conceptual soundtrack.

THE BIRDS, THE BEES, & THE MONKEES
Boxed Set

The wait is over! The release of a 3-CD boxed set featuring and expanded Rhino Handmade version of The Monkees’ THE BIRDS, THE BEES & THE MONKEES is finally here.

Released in 1968, THE BIRDS, THE BEES & THE MONKEES featured a trio of Top 40 hits, “Tapioca Tundra,” the group’s sixth million-selling single “Valleri” and the 1 “Daydream Believer.” The set includes mono and stereo mixes of the original album on individual discs, each expanded with rare and unreleased tracks. The third disc collects more than two dozen unreleased tracks culled from the album’s sprawling sessions complemented by a number of rare recordings.

HEADQUARTERS
2 CD Deluxe Edition

In an effort to restore and remaster the music of The Monkees, Headquarters is back in a new and improved way! Featuring "The Girl I Knew Somewhere," "You Just May Be The One," and "Randy Scouse Git," this album is a great addition to any Monkees fan's collection.

PISCES, AQUARIUS, CAPRICORN & JONES LTD
Deluxe Edition

Just before Thanksgiving 1967, The Monkees returned with their fourth consecutive 1 album, PISCES, AQUARIUS, CAPRICORN & JONES LTD. Generally considered as one of the band's finest, the album's 13 tracks include the hit songs “Pleasant Valley Sunday” written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King and “Words,” by the songwriting team of Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart, who wrote many of the band's biggest hits. The set's 14 bonus tracks feature unreleased alternate mixes of “Star Collector,” “Salesman,” “Cuddly Toy” (a Harry Nilsson song) and “Daily Nightly,” a song Nesmith wrote about the '66 riots on the Sunset Strip. The bonus tracks also include the soulful “Goin' Down,” a track that came together during a jam session and was based on the chord progression of Mose Allison's “Parchment Farm.”

THE MONKEES

.... Deluxe Edition

Originally released in 1966, The Monkees had an amazing 78-week run on the Billboard album chart. It includes the 1 hit "Last Train To Clarksville" and the infectious "(Theme From) The Monkees," both written for the band by hit songwriting team Boyce & Hart. Also features Goffin & King's "Take A Giant Step" and David Gates' "Saturday's Child." Disc one's nine bonus tracks include previously unreleased alternate mixes of "The Kind Of Girl I Could Love" and "Papa Gene's Blues," plus a take of "I Don't Think You Know Me" featuring Micky Dolenz on vocals. Disc two's eight bonus cuts include a previously unreleased demo version of "Propinquity (I've Just Begun To Care)" and a rare Kellogg's jingle.

MORE OF THE MONKEES
Deluxe Edition

1967's More Of The Monkees was the band's most successful album, becoming the third best-selling LP of the '60s (ranking higher than any Beatles album). The band topped the pop singles charts again with the Neil Diamond-penned "I'm A Believer." The album also features the Top 20 hit "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone" and the classic cut "She," both composed by Boyce & Hart. Twelve bonus tracks on disc one include an alternate mix of "I'm A Believer" and a version of "Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow)" that features Peter Tork's narration." Disc two's six bonus cuts include the first recorded version of "Valleri" "and a previously unreleased alternate mix of "Tear Drop City."
