Mike V's Glory Bound Festival Canceled
SKATEBOARDING LEGEND MIKE VALLELY SUFFERS BROKEN ARM IN PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY DEBUT; INJURY FORCES CANCELLATION OF LOS ANGELES “GLORY BOUND FESTIVAL” FEATURING PENNYWISE & ALKALINE TRIO
Skateboarding hero MIKE VALLELY (pronounced VAL-ə-lee; also known as MIKE V) broke his arm in his professional hockey debut with the Danbury (CT) Whalers of New Federal Hockey League on Friday evening, October 29. Vallely, 40 and a life-long hockey fan, became the first professional board sport athlete to achieve a roster spot on a traditional team sport at a professional level.
"It was a real thrill to have Mike in Danbury with us,” said Herm Sorcher, owner of the Danbury Whalers. “He is a first class individual on and off the ice. There will always be a number 22 jersey hanging in the locker room waiting for Mike to return. We wish him a speedy recovery."
As a result of the unfortunate injury, Vallely will be sidelined for 2-3 months, and will have to refrain from skating (as a hockey or skateboarding pro) during this time. The accident has forced the cancelation of the MIKE V “Glory Bound Fest” (which was set to feature MIKE V and the legends of skateboarding, alongside punk bands PENNYWISE, ALKALINE TRIO and more), originally slated for Saturday, November 13th.
All previously purchased tickets for the “Glory Bound Fest” will be refunded through the point of purchase. Online and phone sales will be automatically refunded, and tickets purchased at the box office or other outlet need to be returned to that location for a refund.
