T-Bet Records is back with some new tunage from longtime buddies Jay Haze (TuningSpork, Contexterrior) and Signor Andreoni (T-Bet co-pilot and half the duos Bunkers and Diamond Dog), showing off their stylistic diversity on a split EP titled Time for Some Action! What kind of action, you may ask - Hollywood blockbuster action? (Can't get no) girly action? Or some straight-up ass-moving dancefloor action?
Mr. Haze enters the scene with "Brief Ace", and perhaps his recent move from Berlin to Peru has inspired a sub-equatorial vibe in his production. This one's got jacking, hissing snares that jump out from the screen, over some low-frequency accents, synth drones and some sort of tribal hex chant. Then, with "Mighty Mighty" Jay takes his vintage hovercraft up to Detroit, to ask not how cold it is in the D, but how FUNKY it is, with frenetic percussion and a classic Haze buildup and breakdown. As well as plenty of car chases and some full-frontal nudity.
On the flip side, Signor Andreoni offers "Flip Side", and thankfully he spent more time on the music than on the track's title. Andre sexes it up with thick, vibrant bass that drips with electro nectar, seducing the acid bunnies and pizzicato kitties to join in on the mayhem. Finally, "Soul Burner" offers a chance to cool off, with a swinging, low-key vibe that will take you on a moon safari with just a pinch of saxophone.

Diamond Dog is the new project from Cagliari, based producers Acirne and Signor Andreoni. Acirne is the co-founder of T-Bet. whilst Andreoni is a classically trained jazz guitarist who, since his earlier solo releases on TuningSpork Records, now focuses mostly on his two collaborative projects, Bunkers (with Alessio Mereu) and as you hear here, Diamond Dog. After the Double-D duo debuted earlier this year with the 'Mosaic EP' on Contexterrior – getting DJ support from the likes of Adam Beyer, Chloé and Brothers Vibe– Acirne brought Andreoni and young DJ talent Cherry Baker on board to help run T-Bet, and together the three have recorded this new EP, hence the title, When the Dog Eats the Cherry. (Somehow it sounded better than When the Diamond Eats the Baker…) “Blasè” is a classic example of intergalactic jazz house. The kind of music you’d hear if Han Solo and Obi-Wan met at a beach rave instead of a cantina. With Andreoni’s analog key melodies and a familiar voice lamenting, “You do me wrong but still I’m crazy about you”, this track bleeds enough soul to make even the darkest lord of the Sith teary-eyed.Rio Padice offers a more stripped down version, bringing out an underlying hypnotic element. His remix, along with his acclaimed work with Massimo di Lena as Horacio (Raum, Cynosure), shows that Chicago’s influence is alive and well in Italy.
