  • Bio

The Millions (formed in 1989) are one of the most unique bands to ever come out of the mid-western United States. .. The group was formed out of the ashes of two popular groups from Lincoln, Nebraska; For Against (Harry Dingman III and Greg Hill) and New Brass Guns (Lori Allison and Marty Amsler). The Millions opened for the likes of Smashing Pumpkins and House Of Love and toured Europe with Sheryl Crow. The band routinely packed halls from Chicago to Las Vegas and enjoyed legendary status at clubs in Lincoln (most notably Duffy's Tavern). .. The Millions recorded with Biff Sanders (of Ethyl Meatplow and Autumnfair) in 1989 and 1990, and some of the results were found on "M Is For Millions" (self released, 1990). .. The Millions attracted the attention of PolyGram Records, who teamed the group up with legendary Rush producer Terry Brown. Together they recorded "M Is For Millions" (not to be confused with the self released cassette), which was released by Smash/PolyGram in October 1991. That same month the single "Sometimes" was the second most added track at alternative rock radio the same week as "The Fly"; the first U2 single from their upcoming album "Achtung Baby". The "Sometimes" video garnered MTV play and The Millions were given a "New Faces" feature in the March 5, 1992 edition of Rolling Stone. .. The band added second guitarist Benjamin Kushner in 1993 and released the "Raquel" album (Dream Circle Records of Germany) in 1994. "Raquel" was then released in the United States by Thermometer Sound Surface with a slightly different track listing and artwork. At this time Marty Amsler left the band and Mike Keeling became the new bass player of The Millions. .. As The Millions continues to ready material of previously unreleased music in 2009 (including a series of three rarities CDs), fans can also catch Lori Allison on recordings with Floating Opera, and Harry Dingman III is also now back with the seminal Lincoln band For Against (whose 2008 album "Shade Side Sunny Side", released by Words On Music, made many "best of" lists for the year).
