With a lineup that includes one half of Mr. Airplane Man and a member of King of Nuthin', it's not surprising that Boston's Turpentine Brothers play gritty but fun, soul-tinged garage rock.
Vocalist/guitarist Justin Hubbard and drummer/vocalist Tara McManus began the band as a duo, playing covers at local clubs and parties; when bassist/keyboardist Zack Brines joined the group, the trio switched to writing and playing original songs as well as the Hasil Adkins and Billy "The Kid" Emerson covers that had been their mainstay. Along with sharing the stage with likeminded artists such as Dead Moon, the Black Lips, the Lyres, and Flat Duo Jets' Dex Romweber, the Turpentine Brothers set about recording their debut album. We Don't Care About Your Good Times arrived early in 2005. ~ Heather Phares
