Show moreOverall, this album is a must-listen!! And I'm not just saying that because of the huge 'Strokes fan I am, but because of the huge amount of variety that's in each and every song! From the funky 80's Tap out, to the old Is This It-styled 50/50, to the vintage 40's ballad Call It Fate, Call It Karma, Comedown Machine is a must-buy!! I feel like The Strokes have come so far in their music and although they've had their downfalls, they still do not disappoint me. And with albums like this, it makes me feel SO much more optimistic and positive for more music from them. I really hope The Strokes make more albums like Comedown Machine and stick with what they're doing now which is making good-ass music. Just as long as they don't screw up like they did with Angles, I'll stay happy.
Show moreHoly shit, am I in the fucking 40's??!… This is BEYOND anything The Strokes have ever done… Yes, I said 40's. But this is the kind of song that will send you in cycles of confusion, amazement, and beauty. The vocals Julian projects in this song is something that has NEVER been done before with The Strokes. And in that sense, it makes it wonderfully beautiful and makes you feel like you're in awe.
"I'm in awe!" - Nick Valensi (In Transit)
Definitely the poppiest song on Comedown Machine! It's definitely pretty catchy, but this is probably another song that's going to take a little while to get used to.
Show moreA bit like 80's Comedown Machine… Though it's a lot less intriguing to me quite honestly… Julian's vocals kind of made me think, "… What the fuck??" to be honest. But it's also a very soothing song!… Other than that, it's definitely a big change for Julian to be singing in falsetto and I feel like it can be soothing, but it's also really hard to swallow… And I think it's put together well, but definitely something that's going to take a while to get used to…
Show moreNow how could you not dance to this song?? It's so catchy! Though it's kind of a weird song to me, I feel like it highlights a lot of the past Is This It guitar riffs and at the same time feels like a more new and modern kind of 'Strokes song!
Show moreI might agree with the comments on this song about how Julian's (and I also think Albert's) vocals are very quiet and tiring, but this is really a good song!! Yeah, yeah, yeah, the vocals aren't the best, but I feel like that shouldn't be the most important thing to look at in this song. I think just the song itself is very good, especially when the chorus comes in. I feel like this is another song that sounds like what The Strokes sound like! Overall, it's really a catchy song!
Show moreNow THIS is a solid, fast, beat-to-the-punch 'Strokes song!!! When I think of The Strokes, this is definitely what comes to mind. With the fast-paced drums, strong & catchy guitar riffs, and Julian's badass vocals that have never been this good since Is This It and the vocals of Reptilia, THIS is definitely a song that will make you feel like you're back in 2001 with Is This It.
Show more"Is this The Strokes??" is what I first thought, but then as the song progressed, it started to sound like something from Phrazes For The Young, then something off of Angles, but also something completely different from The Strokes! (and that's good) I feel like this is such a beautifully written song and very different from what The Strokes have ever done. In a way, this is such a simple song, but definitely something you can tell The Strokes took their time to make.
Show more80's badass 'Strokes funk is what I like to think of this song. I feel like although it's not a usual 'Strokes song, it still feels like a 'Strokes song, especially in the chorus. I love Julian's humor in this song as well!
Show moreSame thing with All The Time. I've heard this a lot, but oh my god… I still can't believe the range Julian is going in with his vocals in this song!! Like Tap Out, this is definitely not a 'Strokes kind of song with its 80's kind of vibe to it. But once you listen to it more and more, it really just grows on you. It has a catchy Take On Me by A-ha kind of groove to it!
Show moreI've already heard this about 1,000 times, so I can't really give it a legit review, but its definitely got a FIOE vibe to it! Though I feel like very little effort was put into this song.
Show moreWow! Definitely not a 'Strokes kind of song, but very catchy! It's got a pretty funky 80's beat going on to it. One of my favorites on this album!
Show moreIf any of you are interested, I'm going to be listening to Comedown Machine (by The Strokes) and giving a review for each individual song... I've already listened to the album like A LOT, but I thought I'd give my opinions on each track, if any of you care.
