  • Bio

Tim Pepper is a Nashville, Tennessee based singer/songwriter of the independent variety. He began his musical life much like a lot of singer/songwriters, writing and recording songs in his bedroom. After a few years and a few hesitant live performances music became the thing that drove him. In 2005, Tim started performing every week at an open mic night in his home town, Durban, South Africa. He was getting so many requests for CDs that he started selling demos that he’d recorded in his bedroom. After a selling a few hundred demos Tim released a more official EP, “Believe” which was still basically a mastered bedroom demo. A year later he released his first full length studio album, “Beautiful Frustration” and then promptly moved from South Africa to Nashville, Tennessee. Tim’s first performances may have been hesitant but he soon developed a natural stage presence. He is a self proclaimed “stage-addict”. True to his independent status, Tim gigs in his home town by taking demos to every restaurant and bar he could find and asking if he could play music for them. Open mic nights and pub gigs soon led to opportunities opening for other local bands. Before leaving South Africa, Tim played the main stage at one of their most renowned festivals, Splashy Fen 2008. He also played Woodstock South Africa 2007, JJS 2007 and 2008 and White Mountain Folk Festival 2007; no easy feat for a solo act. Tim Pepper is no slouch. He happened to be completing a master’s degree in biotechnology while developing his musical career and taught high school Biology for two years before deciding to dedicate his time completely to music. He is currently recording a new self-funded album with Nashville producer Chris Wright.

  • Influences

folk, rock, indie rock, country, gospel, bluegrass and blues. Joshua Tree by U2 was the first album I really loved. Beatles, Garth Brooks, Shawn Mullins, Switchfoot, Nirvana (Nevermind), Seven Day Jesus, Small Town Poets, Jars of Clay, Lot's of jangly, guitar stuff that I have no idea who the artist is, Jimi Hendrix, Taxiride, DC Talk, Jeffrey Focault, Songs that tell stories. I don't like the idea that certain genres of music are better than others. I like music that has guts
