I TheTiesAndTheLies nascono a Bologna nel 2006 come band indie/new wave. L’attività live della band, dopo solo l’uscita di un breve demo tape è immediatamente intensa e frenetica, e offre ai thetiesandthelies l’opportunità di esibirsi su alcuni dei palcoscenici italiani più importanti della scena rock e non solo, come il Covo e l’Estragon di Bologna, il Vox di Nonantola, il Velvet di Rimini, il Viper di Firenze e il Wah Wah di Venezia. L’ep “hello tokyo” esce nell’estate 2007: un prodotto energico, profondo e a tratti addirittura dark che viene rapidamente paragonato al post
punk degli Editors e alle atmosfere degli Interpol e che ottiene svariati passaggi radio non solo in Italia, ma anche in Belgio e Gran Bretagna. Durante il 2007 i TheTiesAndTheLies collezionano più di 50 esibizioni live, vincendo alcuni importanti concorsi e divenendo una delle realtà emergenti più interessanti del panorama italiano. Nel 2008 vengono contattati per partecipare alla prima edizione del WahWahFestival di fianco a band come The Horrors, These New Puritans, Kap
Bambino e The Violets, mentre nell’aprile sono band di supporto per il tour italiano dei Delorentos, importante formazione indie/post punk irlandese. A “hello tokyo” segue nei primi mesi del 2009 “behind the barricade”. Il disco, straordinariamente ricco di atmosfere e grandi aperture strumentali, guadagna ottime recensioni fra webzines e riviste specializzate, fra cui il celebre portale Rockit, che riporta “[...] meravigliose canzoni in cui riverberi e groove si fondono per formare un sound compatto e densissimo. Un ep per la fine di un amore, di un’esistenza, in cui la disillusione rende impossibile qualsiasi ulteriore azione. Sopravvivere fa paura, mentre con un filo di voce mi dici “slow now, take your time to hold the gun”. Ventuno minuti di pura malinconia per raccontare una storia finita male. La primavera sembra ancora lontana, mentre il sangue comincia a sgorgare sul pavimento.”
The use of coloured and patterned ties to indicate the wearer's membership of a club, military regiment, school, etc., goes back no further than late-nineteenth century England. The first definite occurrence is in 1880, when Exeter College, Oxford rowers took the College-colour ribbons from their straw boaters and wore them as neckties (tied four-in-hand). They went on to order a proper set of ties in the same colours, thus creating the first example of a College tie.
It didn't take long for other colleges, as well as schools, universities, and clubs to follow suit. At about the same time, the British military moved from dressing in bright and distinctive colours to wearing more subdued, discreet, and practical uniforms. They retained the old uniforms for dress occasions, but also continued to use their regimental colours and emblems on embroidered blazer badges and ties.
The most common pattern for such ties was and remains diagonal stripes in alternating colours (running down the tie from the left in the U.K. and most of Europe, rather than the U.S. preference for stripes running down from the right); the alternative is either a single emblem or crest placed centrally and designed to appear where a tiepin would normally be, or a repeated pattern of such motifs. Sometimes both types are used by an organisation, either simply to offer a choice or to indicate a distinction between types or levels of membership. Occasionally a hybrid is used, in which alternating stripes of colour are overlaid by a pattern of repeated motifs.
Many British schools use variations on their basic tie to indicate the age or house of the wearer or status (e.g., prefect), or to show that the wearer has represented his or her school competitively (especially at sports). A different design is usually worn by Old Boys or Girls (alumni).

Ciao a tutti, i macachi che vivono nella co-housing di Preganziol sono felici di annunciarvi che Martedì 23 Febbraio organizzeranno una Macaco Country Night molto pirotecnica con la cena e il concerto degli americani Still Flyin'. Numerosissimo combo di San Francisco (15 persone di base, con infinite partecipazioni durante i live), gli Still Flyin’ ci portano all’interno di una vera e propria festa. A guidare il supergruppo (con membri dei Architecture in Helsinki, Love Is All, Ladybug Transistor e Aislers Set tra gli altri) in questa stramba avventura è Sean Rawls, trapiantato nella baia da Athens, in Georgia, dove suonava onesto indie rock in band come i Masters of the Hemisphere o i Je Suis France.Pur partendo da una base di puro indie-rock l’influenza di musica come Rocksteady, Roots e Reggae unita ad una genuina e ironica vena Hippie rende questo gruppo veramente divertente ed originale!
